CCA warns of cost of proposed pharmacy technician qualification change

The Company Chemists’ Association (CCA) has warned that the proposed changes to pharmacy technician training will increase financial pressures on pharmacies. In its response to a consultation launched by the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) on changes to the initial education and training (IET) standards for pharmacy technicians, the CCA said the changes could cost around £75m to £100m in higher training costs, plus around £50m per year in higher wages for Level 4‑qualified technicians.
