The causal relationship between sarcopenic obesity factors and benign prostate hyperplasia
Introduction With the increasing global aging population (1), the prevalence of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is resulting in a significant economic burden. Consequently, the prevention and treatment of BPH will pose a major challenge in the future (2). Several Mendelian randomization studies have consistently demonstrated that waist circumference, sedentary behavior (3), thyroid disorders (4), higher education level (5), and bioavailable testosterone (6) are risk factors for BPH.
