1 Introduction In recent decades, the study of chiral metamaterials has garnered increasing attention,[1] owing to their significant applications in energy absorption and energy harvesting,[2, 3] vibration attenuation,[4, 5] morphing airfoil design,[6, 7] and smart structures.[8] The term “chiral” originates from the Greek word “cheir”, meaning “hand”.

7 CONCLUSION We have revisited the extended Noether's formalism in continuum mechanics by using tensor algebra and applied directly to elastodynamics. Apart the well-known balance equations, we have observed how the J-integral is obtained with the Eshelby stress tensor, which is of importance in modeling damage mechanics. In this way, we understand that this formalism includes all necessary information for a theory. Hence, it seems to be useful in order to generalize the conventional mechanics.

Abstract This work concerns the probabilistic analysis of particle-based materials. More precisely, this work is devoted to the stochastic modeling of the geometric and constitutive microscale parameters associated with particle-pair interactions of an existing model for particle-based materials. Such an issue is addressed with a probabilistic methodology that relies on the maximum entropy principle from information theory.
