Registered Dietitian Nora Forde embraces her native Midwest upbringing and its seasonal changes, from the red leaves of fall to a light dusting of snow on a Sunday morning to the glorious return of spring, then summer. In recent months, the wellness consultant has been preparing her client base for the gloomy side of the winter months when a succession of gray days can impact a person’s mood and disposition.

The Rev. Ryan Brady was driving when he took a call from a parishioner. Brian Sweeney had phoned to inform him that it was time to “anoint” his 93-year old mother, Jean, and for her to receive last rites. “Of course,” answered Brady. As the pastor of St. Christina Roman Catholic Church delivered his homily on Nov. 19 for Jean Sweeney (nee Olson), who died Nov. 14, he further recalled the phone call and confessed that he couldn’t readily recall the parishioner who needed his blessing.

Boxer Evan Holyfield relishes teaching the fundamentals of the Sweet Science, especially to youngsters who are new to boxing. Holyfield knows that the blend of strategic thinking, technical skill and tactical prowess punctuating the sport is also in direct contrast to the brute force that draws fans to the ring.
