Bill Flanagan

Hi, my name’s Bill Flanagan. These days, I’m host and producer of WPXI’s “Our Region’s Business,” Sundays at 11 on Channel 11, now in its 21st year on the NBC affiliate. I’m also a special advisor to the Allegheny Conference, where I worked for more than 20-years. I'm here today as a member of the board of directors of a new non-profit, Pittsburgh Tomorrow, which is dedicated to addressing our region’s population and demographic challenges.

Take a look at that skyline. No, actually, look to the horizon, because that's what civic leaders have been doing in Pittsburgh for more than 250 years, and especially for the past two generations. I've had the honor to witness first-hand Pittsburgh's most recent generation of transformation from the time I arrived here in 1982, and even to play a small part in sharing the story with the world as Chief Corporate Relations Officer of the Allegheny Conference on Community Development.

The National Flag Foundation, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary in Pittsburgh, chose Flag Day 2018 to dedicate its new office space in the Koppers Building in Downtown Pittsburgh. I was honored to be asked to make a few remarks, most likely because this is the tenth anniversary of the Pittsburgh 250 celebration, which consumed a few years of my professional life.
