CHEBOYGAN/TRAVERSE CITY — Chris Kura is a retired Staff Sergeant who’s already active with Cheboygan’s City Council, the VFW, and the American Legion. He’s also a published author. His children’s book, “Punch Finds Love”, is a picture book that teaches kids the importance of compassion, perseverance, and finding a place where they belong. He stopped by Good Day to share his story, and the story of how “Punch” came to be.

Aerospace Industry Association of Michigan hosts competition to inspire future generations When we think of aerospace we think of astronauts, but what people may not realize is the number of careers in the industry that don’t require heading to space. Women of the Aerospace Industry Association of Michigan are inspiring the next generation to look into a career in STEM/ Aerospace. Lissa Barron joined Good Day Northern Michigan to tell us about the upcoming Michigan Youth Future Flight Challenge.

TRAVERSE CITY — Freedom Builders Missions will be running a silent auction to help raise funds for their upcoming projects. The nonprofit helps individuals and families (who may not have the ability or financial resources) with essential home repairs and accessibility needs. The fundraiser runs from September 9th through September 19th. In the meantime, Freedom Builders is also looking for donations of products, services, experiences, and more; all to contribute to the silent auction.
