Clint Bentley): The team of Bentley and his creative teammate Greg Kwedar have been on an impressive tear the past few years with “Jockey” and “Sing Sing” to show for their efforts — and this pastoral is an adaptation of a short story, almost always a great springboard for a feature.

★★★★★ In the last five minutes before Star Wars flattened of all science fiction (in spite of it being science fantasy) we still got movies like this one from the brain of Doug Trumbull, the SFX master who realized Kubrick's aims on "2001." This is slowly paced, grandly scaled, and utterly humane, a story about desperate humans in outer space coping with the unfitness of Earth as a livable planet.

★ There some key 1980s tiddies in this dumb throwaway, but the best of anything non-mammary is the brilliant Jon Gries as King Vidiot, a punk-rock antisocial arcade champion. Nothing else leaves an impression other than the feeling that Gries came prepared to boogie down while they were shooting this junk. Block or Report Reviewed by Jake Isgar
