Introduction The CELF (CUGBP and ETR-3-like factors) protein family consists of RNA-binding proteins that regulate target gene expression by post-transcriptional processing of RNAs.1 CELF proteins are found in both the nucleus, where they regulate alternative splicing and editing of pre-mRNA targets, and the cytoplasm, where they control mRNA translation and/or stability.2 The human CELF protein family contains six known members, CELF1 to CELF6.
