Growing up in India, mental health, much less postpartum depression, was rarely mentioned. The pressure to excel academically was so intense that there was little time to even consider whether I was mentally okay. Competing with thousands of students left no room for self-reflection or mental well-being. When my husband and I moved to the US in 2008 to pursue our Master’s degrees, I continued to hustle, juggling a full-time job with evening classes.
