Long Island natives Koyo begin their sophomore record, Barely Here, by Pure Noise Records with a phone call reminiscent of the early aughts. The kind of sound you only get from pressing your finger onto a square of a landline; unexpected nostalgia. The album ends with the well-remembered click of the switch-hook.

Wavves, aka Nathan Williams, seventh record Hideaway is full of longing and wanderlust in a pair of cowboy boots. Having “written from a place of restlessness and hopelessness,” it was created in Williams’ parent’s shed in his hometown of San Diego, California. Pulling in influences from Johnny Cash and honky tonk, Williams delivers his anxiety ridden prose through beachy guitar, layered vocals and some hooks comparable to Wavves early material like King of the Beach.

Over the last three decades, Liz Phair has made herself a household name. Thanks to top selling hits “Why Can’t I?”, “Fuck And Run”, “Extraordinary” and “Supernova”, she has rightfully made her mark in the pop and singer-songwriter world.
