Sister species comparisons To measure the relative contribution of allopatric speciation and parapatric ecological divergence to recent speciation events, we compared the geographical distribution (Appendix S1) and the leaf areas (Appendix S2) of putative sister species based on phylogeny and taxonomy (see assumption section below). We used leaf area as a proxy to evaluate ecological divergence between these sister species pairs.
