Developers behind the proposed Omni New Orleans secured two key approvals Wednesday that backers of the dedicated convention center hotel say are necessary for making the long-sought project a reality. Following a set of public hearings, the City Council approved a measure that would allow the Omni's developers to build the 1,000-room hotel to 27 stories, exceeding the existing height limit in the surrounding Warehouse District neighborhood by more than 200 feet.
