You love to interview people. Famous names. Everyday Americans. Over the years you’ve saved these interviews on microcassettes, minidiscs, tapes, and your hard drive. But no one else has ever gotten to hear the choice conversations. Until now.
Blank on Blank is a multimedia nonprofit with a simple mission: bring journalists’ new and vintage interviews back to life. We curate and transform unheard interviews into new multimedia vignettes (the Blank on Blank podcast, satellite and public radio shorts, and YouTube video series). The future of journalism? It’s remixing the past, so your untapped work can reach thousands of people.
Blank on Blank has already dug into the rich archives of journalists from Rolling Stone and Wired to WNYC and The Library of Congress to transform rare interviews with everyone from Ellen DeGeneres and Muhammad Ali to Kelly Slater and Alex Bogusky.
Get a sneak peek at Blank on Blank’s new animated interview series coming to PBS soon. Watch Dave Brubeck on Fighting Communism with Jazz here: http://bit.ly/XbkQYL. Each 3-4 minute episode will feature smart, clean animation layered atop artfully produced intimate, raw interviews with icons like James Brown, David Foster Wallace, and Jim Morrison. As we build the series we’re reaching out to select journalists to uncover more interviews that would otherwise never be heard. Collaboration is easy. So what’s in your archives?
