Doctors are a step closer to being able to use a simple blood draw to help confirm an Alzheimer's disease diagnosis. The Food and Drug Administration has announced that it has cleared a new test from Roche that employs a single protein in the blood as a marker for amyloid plaque in the brain, long tied to Alzheimer's, the Washington Post reports.

Nevada turned to the courts on Monday in a bid to keep more of the Colorado River flowing its way. The state sued the federal government, asking a US District Court to halt a Bureau of Reclamation plan that would sharply reduce water deliveries to Nevada, California, and Arizona over the next decade if the river keeps shrinking, the New York Times reports.

Jury selection was scheduled to begin Wednesday for the federal trial of Abu Agila Mohammad Mas'ud Kheir Al-Marimi in Washington, DC, the AP reports. His trial will be the first in the US for the Dec. 21, 1988, bombing over Scotland.
