First-time author Peggy Wiltberger delved into her family ancestry to create a historical fiction novel that spans 100 years, “Stories of Swormville: A Historical Novel,” released in 2026 by NFB Publishing. According to one reviewer, the book is a sweeping generations-long narrative following two families from their mid-19th century emigration from Germany to their lives in a small farming community in Western New York. The two families highlighted in the book are the Schreppels and Wiltbergers.

Residents voice disappointment over Kingsgate Park

Many residents surrounding the Kingsgate Park on Ridgewood Drive attended the afternoon meeting of the Amherst Town Board on Monday to let the board know that they are not pleased that the park has been dismantled after the town cited safety concerns. Dawn Harvey of Pearce Drive has lived there for 34 years, and said the neighborhood has been enriched with Kingsgate Park by the young families that live around her and her husband, who walk through the neighborhood daily.
