(WTRF) – One of our former reporters–Dave Elias–now lives and works in Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Florida near where Hurricane Milton is predicted to make landfall. Hurricane Milton is a Category 5 right now, but it is expected to weaken to a Category 3 by landfall. Milton is expected to make landfall late Wednesday night into early Thursday morning.

Norfolk Southern agrees to $600 million dollar settlement for East Palestine

COLUMBIANA COUNTY, Ohio (WTRF) – Norfolk Southern has agreed to pay $600 million dollars in a class-action lawsuit settlement related to the East Palestine train derailment. The company says the agreement—if approved by the court—will resolve ALL class action claims within a 20-mile radius from the derailment. Ohio’s US Senator JD Vance feels that this a good start, but… It’s important to recognize this is one step of many important steps to making the community there whole.

Ohio County emergency officials meet to coordinate flood response efforts

(WTRF) – First responders from Wheeling Fire and Police as well as the Ohio County Sheriff’s Department have been in and out of Ohio’s Command Center getting updates on the status of area flooding. After several calls with the National Weather Service, they are getting a better picture of when the river will crest. EMA Director Lou Vargo is already planning for after the crest.
