Interview

Have you ever used a typewriter?

I once clicked away at a typewriter in a second-hand store before I was yelled at to stop.

Why did you become a journalist?

I wanted to write comic books. Somewhere along the way I started to enjoy journalism more than I thought I would.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

I did work for my high school paper. I was just a standard news reporter.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

I'll always be proud of the story I wrote in Fukushima, Japan. It was such a unique experience.

What's your favorite drink?

Water, and if I'm feeling really daring I'll add a lemon.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

Most likely at home watching "White Men Can't Jump" for the hundredth time, or at my local boxing gym pretending I know what I'm doing.

Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?

I'm a big fan of the Los Angeles Times. I love Esquire and Vanity Fair as well.
