SHEFFIELD TWP. — Lorain County went blue in this month’s election after all. Official election results, approved by the county Board of Elections last week, show that Democrat Hillary Clinton beat Republican Donald Trump by 131 votes in Lorain County. Trump, who won Ohio and the presidential race, originally appeared to have won Lorain County on Election Day when unofficial election returns showed him beating Clinton by 388 votes.

SHEFFIELD TWP. — Spending on behalf of state Rep. Nathan Manning’s re-election campaign nearly cracked $500,000. Manning, R-North Ridgeville, spent $115,670 out of his own campaign coffers, according to his campaign finance reports, the most recent of which was due Friday. Manning’s first campaign report for the general election, filed in October, showed he had also received $109,318 in in-kind contributions from state Republicans.

ELYRIA — An Elyria woman who set fire to an apartment complex earlier this year was sentenced Monday to three years in prison after she pleaded guilty to charges of aggravated arson and arson. Trista Mussell, 33, also was ordered to pay $500 in restitution by Lorain County Common Pleas Judge Christopher Rothgery. She also must register as an arson offender when she is done serving her prison sentence, attorney JD Tomlinson said.
