INTRODUCTION Asthma is a leading cause of emergency care for children, accounting for approximately 1,258,046 emergency department (ED) visits and 110,983 hospitalizations in the United States in 2021.1 Intravenous magnesium sulfate (IVMg) may reduce hospitalization in children with asthma when given in addition to other standard medications, but limited evidence exists to assess its efficacy and inform appropriate dosing and indication.
