COLUMN: ‘Head Space’: Is there a cure for road rage?
Columnist Brandon W. Hahn By columnist Brandon W. Hahn Is there a cure for road rage? I’d like to think so. I think most of us experience it on some level. Maybe we don’t all scream obscenities or give somebody the finger, but there’s usually a little frustration involved in getting from point A to point B. Why do we turn into monsters when we get behind the wheel? We’re normally reasonably decent people. We hold doors open. We say please and thank you. We wait patiently in line at the grocery store.
‘Head Space’: The happiness discussion
Independent columnist Brandon W. Hahn./ Brandon W. Hahn photo By Independent columnist Brandon W. Hahn There are many opinions on happiness and how we achieve it. Is it a choice? A decision? Something that just happens to us? They say money doesn’t buy happiness, but there’s an old joke that I’d rather be crying in my BMW than crying on my bicycle. I can appreciate that. I’ve lived through the process of discovering that money isn’t necessarily the answer to happiness.
Customer Favorite Capabilities: Accelerating Your Path to VCF 9.1.1
As a TAM, I’ve noticed a recurring theme in almost every customer conversation lately: the critical need to balance rigorous information security with operational simplification. While teams still demand robust, enterprise-grade capabilities (especially to defend their infrastructure), they’re looking for ways to cut through the noise – removing the friction from how they adopt, manage, secure, and scale their solutions.
‘Head Space’: Being alone doesn’t have to mean being lonely
Columnist Brandon W. Hahn. /Brandon W. Hahn photo By Independent columnist Brandon W. Hahn I don’t think they explain loneliness very well in the manual for dealing with life on planet earth. Being alone and being lonely are completely different things and relatively hard to wrap your brain around. I love being alone. Being in solitude. Being with “just me.” I also love company and being social. Both things can be true. There are times when I feel lonely.
‘Head Space’: On miracles
Independent columnist Brandon W. Hahn. /Brandon W. Hahn photo By Independent columnist Brandon W. Hahn This is going to sound cheesy, but there’s a lyric from an 80s song that follows me around. “In this world we’re just beginning to understand the miracle of living.” That’s Belinda Carlisle from “Heaven is a Place on Earth.” And you know what? Belinda might have been onto something. We talk about the miracle of childbirth or pray for miracles when something has gone terribly wrong.
‘Head Space’: Manipulating grief
Brandon W. Hahn is a columnist for the Independent. /Brandon W. Hahn photo By columnist Brandon W. Hahn Is grief just a harder version of missing someone? And if you deeply miss someone who is still alive, is that grief, too? I think it is. I’ve gone through some heavy losses in my life. Like most people who have, I’ve learned that grief doesn’t follow the rules. It doesn’t arrive, stay for the appropriate amount of time and politely leave. It hangs around.
‘Head Space’: Mental health should be snackable, too
Independent columnist Brandon W. Hahn. /Brandon W. Hahn photo By columnist Brandon W. Hahn I’ve been writing about mental health for a long time. Long enough to remember when talking openly about it could make a room suddenly very interested in its shoes. Thankfully, things have changed. Not completely. But enough. These days, I find myself in an interesting place professionally. I’m a writer, a mature film-school student, a podcaster, a mental health advocate and once again, a newspaper columnist.
Modernizing the Private Cloud: Why VCF 9.1 Lifecycle Management is a Game Changer
In my conversations with customers over the last year, one theme consistently rose to the top: the desire for simplicity without sacrificing scale. As we continue to evolve VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) into the industry’s premier private cloud platform, our engineering focus continues toward making the Day 2 experience—the long-term maintenance and operation of your environment—as seamless as possible. With the release of VCF 9.1, we are taking a massive leap forward.
10 VMware Cloud Foundation 9.0 Enhancements: Simplifying Your Day 2 Operations
As organizations prepare to upgrade to VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 9.0, understanding Day 2 operational changes becomes critical for a successful transition. In previous versions such as VCF 5.2, many administrative tasks—such as network pool creation, host commissioning, and workload domain deployments—were tightly coupled with SDDC Manager and performing them outside of it often led to issues.

My previous blog – ‘Customer Favorite Capabilities and Where to Find Them’ – was extremely popular and quickly became a customer favorite. This blog is an updated version, reflecting the continued commitments that Broadcom has made to R&D and product improvements. Labels are for soup cans, but a diagnosis can be the perfect antidote
There are no absolute cures for mental health afflictions. But acceptance takes you a long way. Labels are for soup cans, but a diagnosis can be the perfect antidote. If you know your enemy, and that enemy may be schizophrenia or bipolar, it will add itself to your coping skills and help you put your problems on the back burner. Compliance with doctors and caregivers, and taking whatever medication is prescribed are all excellent allies in defeating your condition.
Why do we turn into monsters when we get behind the wheel?
Road rage. Driving. Why do we turn into monsters when we get behind the wheel? How do we become more conscientious when we drive? Already a Subscriber? Sign in Most of the time we are more than kind when we do things in public, but when we drive, we become demons. It’s something I have trouble understanding. Is it because we are surrounded by a couple of tons of metal? Is it because we think that people can’t see us? What is this power trip we all get from our cars?

Don’t wait for the dust to settle: Change can be a lot of fun
Opinion Let’s show the world we’re not finished yet, writes mental health columnist Brandon Hahn I don’t want to use buzz words or new clichés but isn’t the world a little different than it used to be? I mean, we are still dealing with COVID-19 and still in its wake, but to me, the world seems a little more delicate and beautiful than it ever has before. In my opinion (and that is all it is), our world has become something to cherish even more than usual.

ZeroXposur 3-in-1 Jacket
vote up 0 vote down I work in the rain for 4 to 8 hours at a time. For the price ($40, normal retail $125) I got this jacket at Burlington Coat Factory it was an excellent buy. It does say weather proof or resistant on the tag. I can’t remember which, but the first couple of days I wore it out in the rain it worked well. It kept my chest and back area dry. The arms around the wrist area did start to get saturated after awhile. This is a very warm jacket.
