I was born in the mountains. Then I lived by an ocean. Now I live by another ocean. I still prefer the mountains.

Live Be Yoga: 5 Tips for Exploring (and Getting Out of Your Comfort Zone)
Leaving the comfort of your own neighborhood, or even your own couch, can be daunting. Some of us have to work a little harder to build up the courage it takes, and the energy required, to seek out new places and experiences.
Live Be Yoga: Living a Sustainable Life
The idea of sustainability is a tough concept to grasp. We have a hard time thinking of anything that doesn’t have an end. Everyone remembers looking up at the stars as a child and struggling to grasp the true expanse of the universe. We remember how our brains struggled with the idea of the size of what’s out there, and became more aware of our personal limits. How, then, has it taken us this long to wake up?

Live Be Yoga: Experiencing the Great American Road Trip
I remember turning 15. I remember counting down the days until I was allowed to attend a driver’s education class. And then a couple months after that, earning my driver’s permit. And then, six excruciatingly long months after that, reaching the Holy Grail: my driver’s license. I didn’t even own a car, but there so was so much symbolism, so much freedom, imbued in that little laminated card.
Live Be Yoga: 10 Must-Do's for Yogis in Salt Lake City
Carrie Coppola’s Mudita Yoga was certainly one of our favorites of the tour so far. Carrie has managed to create a space in which a beautiful yoga community has formed. Pro tip: Mudita works hard to find ways for their yogis to give back to the community, so check for multiple volunteer opportunities on their website.

Live Be Yoga: 10 Can't-Miss Stops in San Francisco
“I named the studio Love Story because yoga is the greatest love story of all,” says owner and teacher Stephanie Snyder of her beautiful new studio in the heart of The Mission district of San Francisco. Traditional teaching methods combined with a promise to make you sweat is the name of the game for this newcomer. Pro tip: Love Story has only one studio room, but it’s huge and so are the classes.

When you walk through the doors of one of the two Big Power Yoga locations in Houston, be prepared to sweat with the best of them. BIG offers mostly Baptiste-style classes, but with a few other, less intense classes thrown in, should you decide to take it a bit slower for the day.
Live Be Yoga: Building a Real Community in New Orleans
We often hear the term “yoga community” used by both teachers and students to describe any group of like-minded people who happen to come together in the same room to practice asana. We believe we’re like-minded because we share this space in which we move our bodies, but in a class of 50 yogis, there are 50 different reasons why each of us rolled out a mat that day. It’s rare that we ever share those reasons or the change we wish to evoke with our fellow yogis.

Live Be Yoga: Noticing the Details in Chicago
Each time I travel to a new place, I try to seek out one tiny detail to remember that can be mine and mine alone. Something you’d never read about in a guidebook or see in a slideshow. It’s proof to myself that I was there, that I took the time to notice the little things. I don’t usually share my tiny detail, because I like for it to remain mine.

Live Be Yoga: Appreciating Washington, D.C.
Twenty years ago, when I visited Washington, D.C., as a teenager, I enjoyed the choppy bus tour version of this beautiful city and its monuments with all the attention span that a 15-year-old could muster. With no understanding of the immeasurable weight of the history, the struggle, or the ingenuity it took to put them there, the monuments were just fodder for the dozens of rolls of film I eagerly fed my hungry Canon.
Live Be Yoga: Our 10 Favorite Stops in Philadelphia
Live Be Yoga had a blast in Philly, checking out the city's yoga studios (SUP yoga!), historical landmarks, and cuisine.
Live Be Yoga: Returning to My Old Love, New York City
I had mixed feelings about seeing New York City again as the first stop on the 2017 Live Be Yoga Tour. It’s been so long, and we didn't exactly leave each other on good terms. New York and I had a tumultuous five-year relationship that ended abruptly when I told her I wanted to see other cities. That conversation ended with me packing my things and leaving her in my taillights for a younger, albeit more shallow, ingenue on the West Coast.OK, so tumultuous may not be the best word.
