When the Chevrolet 450-horsepower, 500-pound-feet of torque 454 cubic-inch LS6 big-block hit the streets in 1970, it was considered a Mopar killer, or at least something that could finally challenge the 426ci Hemi V-8 for supremacy. When it comes to the Golden Age of American muscle, there are no two engines quite as iconic or fearsome as the LS6 and the Hemi, so it's natural to throw them in a pit together and let them duke it out.

Just because a car is rare doesn't mean it is hardly available for purchase. Many times, in fact, a car's rarity makes it a hot collectible that often gets flipped. Ford only made 1,358 Boss Mustangs between 1969 and 1970, but they were instantly recognized as keepers, so nearly all of them are still accounted for, and because they keep rising in value, auction sites are littered with them.

The key to generating hype for a new car model is making the public aware of it, but automakers haven't always employed this obvious PR step. It's widely reported that Chrysler was trying to generate interest in their new-for-1966 426 Street Hemi engine by equipping it in Dodge Coronet Deluxe four-door sedans. The problem is, they only made five and virtually nobody has heard of them until even today, so either Chrysler totally screwed up or there was another reason for the Hemi four-doors.
