Brian Erbis’s Biography

Brian Erbis, a multifaceted professional, adeptly juggled roles as an NYPD detective and private security expert in New York City. His journey began at the NYPD's 10th Precinct, serving in various capacities such as youth officer, plainclothes anti-crime officer, and traffic safety officer. His exceptional service earned him the NYPD Meritorious and Excellent Police Duty medals.

After an 11-year tenure in these roles, Brian advanced to the 10th Precinct Detective Squad in 2007, delving into investigations of grand larceny, robbery, and burglary. His diligent work led to a promotion to detective within a year and a half, expanding his investigative scope to include homicides and deaths. He later joined the esteemed Midtown North Precinct as a detective and ultimately the NYPD Financial Crimes Task Force, Special Frauds Squad.

Det. Erbis' court testimonies have been instrumental in securing convictions in violent and financial crime cases.

Parallel to his police career, Brian developed expertise in corporate security, notably at Sirius XM Radio in New York City, where he managed celebrity and executive protection for special events. He also directed security for Clinton Manor Associates, overseeing security in two apartment buildings.

Educationally, Brian holds an associate's degree in criminal justice from Nassau Community College and a bachelor's and master's degree from John Jay College of Criminal Justice. He's further enriching his knowledge by pursuing an additional master's degrees in Master of Public Administration, Inspection and Oversight. Brian is also a Certified Fraud Examiner. A NYPD Police Academy alumnus, Brian has completed numerous investigative courses offered by the NYPD and private sectors.

Retiring after 23 years with the NYPD, Brian is a recognized authority in financial crime investigations and physical security. Now shifting his career path, he embraces the role of a business consultant, committed to empowering others through his insights and experience.

Brian Erbis is also a licensed Nevada Private Investigator Qualifying Agent (NV PILB#4253) and owner of Brian Erbis Consulting LLC, a private investigation firm offering fraud examination, mystery shopping and internal controls consulting.

Residing in Brooklyn, New York, with a second home in Reno, Nevada, Brian's life is marked by diverse experiences across New York State. He's actively expanding his business to northern Nevada. His varied interests include socializing, reading, travel, snow skiing, boating, and camping.

Brian’s investigative acumen during his NYPD tenure covered a spectrum of cases, focusing notably on fraud. His work with the NYPD Special Frauds Squad led to several high-profile prosecutions and muti=jurisdictional travel. His security tenure at SiriusXM and as a director at a Section 8 housing complex, alongside his adept skills in surveillance, self-defense, and emergency vehicle operations, highlight his diverse capabilities.

Brian Erbis Consulting, LLC, his entrepreneurial venture, initially began as a financial crime blog incorporating investigative journalism and is continually growing.
