U.S. Secretary of Education Linda McMahon, center, speaks during a press conference about President Donald Trump’s Education Freedom Tax Credit alongside state Rep. Tim Kelly, R-Saginaw Township, right, and Michigan State House Speaker Matt Hall, R-Richland Township.
COLUMN: Back to school (choice) like never seen before
As kids nationwide return to the classroom, nearly 2 million of them are walking through the doors of a school their family chose, not the one assigned by ZIP code, thanks to a school choice program in their home state — whether that’s a scholarship, a tax credit, or an education savings account.

Governors, here are 52 million reasons why it's time to act on school choice
There is no more room for hesitation. A new state-by-state analysis lays out, in stark numbers, exactly what governors are risking by sitting on their hands, and it's time they paid attention. The education freedom tax credit is the most significant expansion of education opportunity in a generation, and a new analysis from the American Federation for Children shows just how far its reach could extend. This is the first analysis to map EFTC eligibility in all 50 states.
Political News and Conservative Analysis About Congress, the President, and the Federal Government
America’s big schooling unions have long wielded outsize influence over politicians at every level of government, and nowhere is that more apparent than in their coordinated campaign against the Education Freedom Tax Credit.
Senate Democrats lost in space on attempt to kill education freedom tax credit
They're at it again. It's like clockwork, with the big schooling loyalists. Any time there is movement for education freedom and school choice, they spring into action. We've seen this play out in state legislatures and through lawfare, and now, it's happening on the national stage. Recently, Sen.
Senate Democrats lost in space on attempt to kill education freedom tax credit
FROM PROMISE TO REALITY: SCHOOL CHOICE WON BIG IN 2025 The teachers unions hate it because it shifts power away from their special interests and returns it to where it belongs: parents, families, and students. They are activating their political pawns to try and kill the tax credit. Let’s look at Kelly in his own words and why he’s leading this effort, championing his bill “to end Donald’s Trump’s national school voucher program.” Well, that didn’t take long.
Gurr & Jodice: School choice offers path to prosperity
School choice is good for families, students and the economy. When Congress seeks ways to fund national priorities, it would be wise to consider the economy-boosting power of school choice. Parents should have the freedom to choose the best educational setting for their children because it’s the right thing to do. This freedom also comes with bonus benefits, driving economic growth by improving key educational and social outcomes, not just for the select few but across all communities.

The school voucher sky isn’t falling
The reality of school choice is that students continue to accelerate, a new report finds. If you listen to the teachers unions and Big Education loyalists, you’d think the sky is falling nationwide, with claim after claim that school choice programs, including vouchers, will hurt students, take away from public schools, discriminate, and so on, and so on. But here’s a reality check for Chicken Little: The sky is not falling.
North Carolina’s ‘opportunity scholarships’ program started five years ago. Now it’s about to dramatically expand.
Thursday marks the anniversary of a major victory in the fight for educational freedom in North Carolina. Five years ago, the General Assembly established the Opportunity Scholarship Program, enabling low-income children to use state-funded scholarships to attend private school. This past school year, nearly 7,400 students statewide relied on Opportunity Scholarships to open doors of educational opportunity.
LEDBETTER: Are central banks embracing too much risk?
Central banks are usually thought of as very conservative institutions; if they were cars they would be safe, family sedans. Lately, though, some central banks have been doing the market equivalent of zipping around in a sporty convertible. In recent years, at least two large central banks have been snapping up large quantities of equities, typically considered a risky investment. The Swiss National Bank now has about 20 percent of its reserves in equities, up from about 7 percent a decade ago.
JODICE: Good medicine: How school choice benefits education
Imagine if you couldn’t choose your health care provider. Instead, you’d be zoned to a clinic or hospital based solely on your home address. Medical providers there would supply all your health care needs: annual exams, scans, surgery, treatment. If you received a worrisome diagnosis, you’d need to forego a second opinion from a physician at another facility — unless you could afford to pay all costs out of pocket. It sounds absurd, right? What if you had cancer? What if your child did?
