Lanes will start being closed on Grant Street in Franklin midmonth as crews prepare to install a new water line, and hydrant flushing will begin Monday so the water department can finish it before Applefest, the Franklin General Authority heard Tuesday. Brian Riccella, of The EADS Group engineering firm, said contractors plan to start replacing the Grant Street water line around Sept.

Samuel and Frances Polito, on their wedding day Samuel and Frances Polito, of Franklin, are celebrating their 50-year wedding anniversary today. Samuel Polito and the former Frances Grela were married on Sept. 10, 1976, at St. Patrick Church, in Franklin, by the Rev. John R. Snyder. Mr. Polito is the son of the late Samuel and Isabel Polito. He worked as a transportation construction supervisor. Mrs. Polito is the daughter of the late Theodore and Helen Grela.

Karg’s score was one shot ahead of runner-up Joe Rapp of A-C Valley/Union with a 35 as the Panthers won the day with a team total of 160.
