Kwaneta Harris had hot flashes and lapses of memory. She didn’t feel right and didn’t know why. “It felt like my body was completely betraying me,” she wrote. “I felt like I was losing my mind.” The cause wasn’t the eight years she’d spent in solitary confinement in a Texas prison. She was going through menopause. She didn’t understand it. And Texas officials wouldn’t allow her access to books or written materials on women’s health.

When fans sue sports leagues, they rarely win.
By Brian Tuohy Like many other Pittsburgh Steelers fans, Daniel Spuck was unhappy with the controversial Week 17 San Diego Chargers win over the Kansas City Chiefs. The victory, achieved in part thanks to two questionable decisions by officials, propelled the Chargers into the playoffs while the Steelers missed the cut. Had the Chiefs beaten the Chargers, it would've been the Steelers meeting the Cincinnati Bengals in the wild-card round, and who knows what might have happened.
Inside the FBI's gambling investigation of Al McGuire.
Once upon a time, there were three brothers. The youngest, Al, was the least gifted athletically of the three, yet he fought his way through four rough-and-tumble seasons in the NBA, then became a legendary collegiate head coach through his unorthodox style. The middle brother, Dick, was an unselfish NBA point guard who made it all the way to the Hall of Fame, then continued in the professional ranks as both a head coach and scout.
COSELL'S Wisdom - The Fix Is In
Howard Cosell: Over 25 Years Later, His Words Still Ring True At the age of 67, iconic sports broadcaster Howard Cosell wrote his third book, this time with Peter Bonventre, titled I Never Played the Game. Josh McDaniels the Link Between the Patriots and Broncos' Spygate?
Justin Edmonds/Getty Images Denver Broncos and its Head Coach Josh McDaniels were both fined $50,000 by the NFL for engaging in what has already been dubbed Spygate II. The origin of the NFL's latest scandal occurred overseas. Ronald Martinez/Getty Images Former NBA referee Tim Donaghy's tell-all book Blowing the Whistle: The Culture of Fraud in the NBA has been pulled by its publisher Triumph, a division of Random House. Triumph has not stated why this has happened. Rumors circulating at the moment, courtesy of the website Deadspin, claim Random House pulled the plug because the NBA threatened to sue over the book's contents in which Donaghy details how referees manipulated NBA games, sometimes at the league's request.
