SWEETWATER—A new special storefront opened on June 20, in the Sweetwater area of Mullica, offering nearby residents a place to buy locally made products that embody the small-town and Pinelands spirit. The Pine Barrens Post welcomed its first brick-and-mortar customers as it opened its doors, where they could peruse and purchase intentionally made artifacts, including candles, skincare, apparel, herbals, food, beverages, stationery, and more.

MULLICA TWP.—The Mullica Township Board of Education recognized the top three students from the eighth-grade graduating class for their academic dedication and extracurricular involvement, as well as the school band for their “excellent” rating from a recent performance in Hershey, Pennsylvania, during this month’s meeting. On June 24, students and families gathered in the Mullica Township School library during the Board of Ed meeting, where board members commemorated their accomplishments.

MULLICA TWP.—Community members gathered at the historic St. Mary of the Pines Cemetery for the annual Blessing of the River ceremony for the Mullica River on June 13 to pay tribute to the region’s early settlers and memorialize those who have died on and around the river throughout the centuries. The St. Mary of the Pines Cemetery Commission, along with the Hammonton Knights of Columbus, has hosted the event since its beginning in 2002.
