In 2024, our Trauma Team cared for 115 patients with non-accidental traumas. 61 of those patients were younger than 1. 4 patients were younger than one month. The injuries ranged from brain injuries, fractures in the skull, arms, spine and legs to burns. The patients spanned across all ethnicities and races. We are often left wondering, was there a point at which someone could have intervened? A relative? A friend? A neighbor? Reporting suspected abuse is mandated by law.

Workers at four Starbucks locations in Philadelphia recently won their union elections. These stores include: 9th and South Street, 20th and Market Street, 34th and Walnut Street, and 3400 Civic Center Blvd. Amalia Jade Inkeles, an organizer from the 20th and Market Street location, sat down with AL DÍA to talk about her frustrations, fears, and dreams for her future and for the future of all service industry employees.
