As Fernanda Santos said- breaking news in papers is nearly irrelevant. Now publications should look for the 2nd day story on the 1st.

What does it mean to be a journalist?
Telling the stories of those most affected by an issue, of those without a voice, of those with stories in need of telling. Also, truth.

Why did you become a journalist?
A high school English teacher brought out my passion for writing. An added affinity for the truth drove me to j-school, then I fell in love.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
My high school paper was a class that you could only take for one semester. In my semester, I was the editor.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
I feel too new to answer this...but, write a lot and don't be afraid to call or email someone important-sounding.
