Topeka businesses, residents have water after main break Original

TOPEKA (KSNT) – People and businesses around Southwest 37th and Burlingame Road finally have access to water, after two consecutive days without water. As of 4 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, a spokeswoman with the City of Topeka told 27 News crews located the leak in the water main and are working to clamp it. Area residents and businesses lost access to water early in the afternoon on Tuesday, July 30. The water outage is caused by a water main break in the area.

Animal hospital workers rush to help crash victims in Topeka Original

TOPEKA (KSNT) – 27 News is following up on a deadly motorcycle crash that occurred over the weekend. The crash occurred on Saturday, July 27, at SW 10th Avenue and Fairlawn Road. The motorcycle riders that died in the crash have been identified by the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office as Noah T. Lawler, 19, and Ava R. Jordan, 20, both of Topeka. One car and one motorcycle were involved in the crash. 27 News has learned that staff at a nearby animal hospital were some of the first to help at the scene.

Larry’s Shortstop in Topeka closes Original

TOPEKA (KSNT) – A longtime Topeka staple shut its doors for the last time on Tuesday. Larry’s Shortstop, which has been located on Topeka Boulevard for nearly 40 years, is officially closed as of 2 p.m. on July 30. They were known for their great cheeseburgers and breakfast options. 27 News spoke to some employees who tell us they are closing after the most recent owner recently went back home to Mississippi. They also say they did not receive their most recent paycheck.
