Antepartum hemorrhage Antepartum hemorrhage complicates up to 25% of pregnancies.9 It refers to vaginal bleeding that occurs anytime throughout pregnancy. It is characterized by the trimester when it occurs, anatomical location, and underlying pathology. Etiologies of vaginal bleeding include placenta previa, placenta accreta spectrum disorders, placental abruption, uterine rupture, and vasa previa.
