Das Mindestalter für den Kauf von Zigaretten wird in Neuseeland künftig jedes Jahr heraufgesetzt. Eine Oppositionspartei spricht von Prohibition. Neuseeland hat ein Gesetz für ein lebenslanges Rauchverbot für Jugendliche verabschiedet. Danach darf Tabak an niemanden mehr verkauft werden, der am oder nach dem 1. Januar 2009 geboren wurde. Das Mindestalter für den Kauf von Zigaretten wird jedes Jahr heraufgesetzt.
