One could say Jamie Lucia has been instrumental in making downtown Los Altos First Fridays a success. The longtime downtown chiropractor and Dogma owner has been involved in the event since its 2011 beginning. Live performers were always a main staple of the event, aimed at improving downtown vibrancy. These days, an average of 15 acts perform throughout the downtown on a First Friday night.

The signs, they are a changin’ again. A new set of parking signs has been installed beyond the 500-foot radius around Los Altos High School. Continuing to address a longstanding parking and traffic problem with limited student parking, the Los Altos City Council in February approved the installation of green signs that allow two-hour parking between 8 a.m. and noon on school days. The signs were installed in July in preparation for the start of the new school year.

The Los Altos-Los Altos Hills Library Commission is set to get an update Thursday (Aug. 7) on an estimated $8.8 million interior remodel of the main library. The project, intended to maximize the limited space in the 28,000-square-foot library, features a lot of glass to convey openness, and features enclosed areas for private study and meetings. The Friends of the Los Altos Library also have an enclosed space.
