Click to tweet this article to your friends and followers! Rian Johnson is riding high right now. His fourth feature film as a writer/director is the ninth highest grossing film of all time and his brand new film, is a brilliantly written whodunnit that twists and turns in ways that feel both surprising and inevitable.
What Batman Can Teach Conservatives on Immigration and Other Issues

I read a lot of comic books and have since I was little. Though I was raised as a Roman Catholic, I've long felt that comic books crafted my moral compass much more than religion ever could. Frederic Wertham had it completely wrong. There are a lot of obvious lessons one could derive from comic books and include them into a moral code, chief among them Spider-Man's axiom, "With great power comes great responsibility." But there are others in all of the comic books, and I want to focus in this piece mainly on Batman, since his comics are those that inspired this article.
How The Last Jedi got Luke Skywalker right

The first time I saw Star Wars: The Last Jedi, I wasn't quite sure what I'd witnessed. The film was so dense and so emotional, I knew that I had to see it at least a second time before I could be sure.
INTERVIEW:Seth Green & Matt Senreich

One of the highlights of going to the Red Carpet premiere of Clone Wars was getting to talk to Seth Green and Matt Senreich about the new Star Wars TV show. No one has been able to pin down what the show is going to be like, exactly, because there have been so many different conflicting reports, and this interview is going to just add to the muddle. But we'll get to that later. According to Seth, "We're hard at work on the show right now, full time." Matt explained that they're doing all of the development and production up front and then they'll be looking for distribution.
The Cinema Behind Star Wars: Roger Ebert

I had something else planned for this month's Cinema column, but after the passing of Roger Ebert, in my sadness I retreated back into his work and found some incredibly fascinating things that connect to the Star Wars universe. Roger Ebert is, perhaps, one of the greatest teachers of the language of cinema in the world, popularizing it and making columns like mine here make sense. One of those permanent classes held by Ebert as often as we'd care to spin up our DVD or Blu-ray players is his audio commentary of Citizen Kane.
An American Geek in Paris

Have you ever wondered what geek culture is like in different parts of the world? Is there a geek culture in Algeria? Does Casablanca have a comic-book store? Does anyone care about Star Wars in the Chinese province of Guangdong? Or is our thirst for comic books and superhero films a uniquely American phenomenon? I had the chance to spend most of the past month in Paris. And while I can't recommend any good comic-book stores in Guangdong or Casablanca, I can tell you what sort of culture shock I experienced as an American geek in the City of Light.

Bryan has been wanting to defend the Star Wars prequel trilogy for a while. And where better to start, than Jar Jar Binks? http://www.denofgeek.us/sites/default/files/images/65515.jpg
Star Wars: The History of the Mandalorian People

With The Mandalorian debuting on Disney+ soon, curiosity in the culture and history of Mandalore is at an all-time high. It's been of interest to Star Wars fans for years because of the popularity of Boba Fett, who wears the armor of a Mandalorian - but we learned through the course of Star Wars: The Clone Wars that the iconic bounty hunter was not actually a member of the culture of Mandalore and neither was his father, Jango.

Posted on Thursday, September 19th, 2019 by Bryan Young July 16, 1999. That was the last day of my eighteenth year and the first day Stanley Kubrick's Eyes Wide Shut was released into the world. As an eighteen-year-old kid obsessed with film still devastated by the loss of Kubrick just a few months prior, I was dying to see this film.
