Interview

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Yes. I wrote my dissertation on a typewriter, but I can't imagine doing that now.

Who's your favorite fictional journalist?

William Kent Kruger

What does it mean to be a journalist?

To me it means everything. I have been writing since I was 7 years old to avoid a crazy family and it's in my blood. I love telling stories.

Who do you wish followed you?

Anderson Cooper

Why did you become a journalist?

It's an extension of teaching as a professor at UNC-Charlotte and a psychotherapist in private practice.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

What Happens As We Are Dying?

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

I'm in the mountains of NC, so when I'm not at my computer, I'm in the mountains and the mountains are in me!
