Climate change dystopia ballet BYLINE: Bushra Azim Boblai, Arts & Culture Editor The National Ballet of Canada’s (NBOC) last production of the 2025–2026 season, Wayne McGregor’s adaptation of MADDADDAM, opened on Saturday, June 13. The ballet, adapted from Margaret Atwood’s trilogy of the same name, is set in a dystopian future where a mad scientist working for an evil corporation wipes out most of the human population. Soon after, the world descends into a harrowing bioengineering spectacle.

The 2026 Griffin Poetry Prize is almost upon us. The Canadian prize — the world’s largest monetary prize for a single book of poetry — will announce its winner on June 3 at Koerner Hall. Established by businessman and philanthropist Scott Griffin, the prize is now in its 26th year. The winning poet and their book will receive $130,000, and the other four shortlisted authors will each receive $10,000.

In the eastern corner of one of the upper floors of 401 Richmond lies the office of non-profit publication, C Magazine. The tri-annual Canadian contemporary art and criticism magazine is one of the few remaining print publications in the country exclusively dedicated to arts writing. Aside from their Spring, Autumn, and Winter print volumes, they publish on their website throughout the year. C Magazine contributes incredibly important work towards fostering the future of art criticism.
