A former Baker City firefighter who was fired three years ago while recovering from long COVID told a jury Monday afternoon, March 17, that he loved working for the city and believes he could have done other jobs in the city despite his medical limitations. Jason Bybee testified that he didn’t know about a few other openings in the city until after he was fired Feb. 7, 2022. In August 2023 Bybee sued the city and former city manager Jonathan Cannon, who fired Bybee.
