Traversable wormholes via a double trace deformation involving $U(1)$ conserved current operators

Abstract We study the effects of conservation laws on wormholes that are made traversable by a double trace deformation. After coupling the two asymptotic boundaries of a maximally extended (d+1)-dimensional black brane geometry with U(1) conserved current operators, we find that the quantum matter stress-energy tensor of the corresponding bulk gauge fields in the hydrodynamic limit violates the averaged null energy condition, rendering the wormhole traversable.
