TUSCALOOSA — Greg Byrne fondly remembers his first experience at the Southeastern Conference spring meetings in Destin, Florida, when he was just two months on the job as Mississippi State’s 36-year-old athletic director. And much like how he handled the meetings as the conference’s youngest AD in 2008, Byrne — now 45 — anticipates taking a more measured sit-back-and-listen approach in his return this week as Alabama’s athletic director.
