1 Introduction The brain modulates synaptic ion channels to simultaneously process and store information, a phenomenon known as synaptic plasticity, which is essential for the function of human neural networks [1]. Memristors are material-based devices whose conductance depends on prior inputs, enabling them to emulate synaptic plasticity and perform concurrent information processing and storage [2] (Figure 1A).

Abstract Dielectric elastomer actuators (DEAs) are promising soft transducers capable of rapid and precise actuation. However, their conventional architecture for efficient actuation confines DEAs in predesigned operational modes, leading to limited applications. Here, we introduce a reconfigurable DEA system using phase-transitional ferrofluid (PTF) electrodes.
