Recombinant Expression and Chemical Amidation of Isotopically Labeled Native Melittin
Post-translational modifications are ubiquitous in the eukaryotic proteome. However, these modifications are rarely incorporated in NMR studies of eukaryotic proteins, which are typically produced through recombinant expression in . Melittin is the primary peptide in honey bee venom. Its native C-terminal amide significantly affects its equilibrium structure and dynamics in solution and is thus a prerequisite for studying its native structure and function.
Proteomic analysis of archival breast cancer clinical specimens identifies biological subtypes with distinct survival outcomes - Nature Communications
Abstract Despite advances in genomic classification of breast cancer, current clinical tests and treatment decisions are commonly based on protein level information. Formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue specimens with extended clinical outcomes are widely available. Here, we perform comprehensive proteomic profiling of 300 FFPE breast cancer surgical specimens, 75 of each PAM50 subtype, from patients diagnosed in 2008-2013 (n = 178) and 1986-1992 (n = 122) with linked clinical outcomes.

Introduction and Aims: Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries are associated with ongoing medical issues including reinjury and osteoarthritis. As epidemiological data to guide risk management are lacking in elite Gaelic football and hurling, this study reviewed ACL injury incidence in elite male Gaelic games.
A Natural History of the Wedding Dress
The history of the wedding dress is shorter than the history of weddings, and even shorter still than the history of marriage. An ancient Chinese myth contains one of the oldest known references to such a garment, and it goes something like this: Once upon a time, in a green and misty country at the center of the world, there lived a clever dog who was also a dragon. Naturally, he was unmarried. This dragon-dog, named Panhu, was the servant of an emperor, who was at war with a fractious general.
Cancer-Associated Mutations in Endometriosis without Cancer
Genomewide association studies have identified genetic markers that are potentially related to an increased risk of endometriosis. 13 Endometriosis, particularly ovarian endometriosis, is widely accepted as the direct precursor of clear-cell and endometrioid ovarian carcinomas, 14,15 so-called endometriosis-related ovarian neoplasms. However, the study of somatic mutations in endometriosis has been restricted largely to endometriosis with concurrent cancer.
Cancer-Associated Mutations in Endometriosis without Cancer
Endometriosis, defined as the presence of ectopic endometrial stroma and epithelium, affects approximately 10% of reproductive-age women and can cause pelvic pain and infertility. Endometriotic lesions are considered to be benign inflammatory lesions but have cancerlike features such as local invasion and resistance to apoptosis. We analyzed deeply infiltrating endometriotic lesions from 27 patients by means of exomewide sequencing (24 patients) or cancer-driver targeted sequencing (3 patients).
Attacking 22 entries in rugby union: running demands and differences between successful and unsuccessful entries
Global Positioning System (GPS) technology is commonly utilized in team sports, including rugby union. It has been used to describe the average running demands of rugby union. This has afforded an enhanced understanding of the physical fitness requirements for players. However, research in team sports has suggested that training players relative to average demands may underprepare them for certain scenarios within the game.
