NATRIURETIC PEPTIDES AS PREDICTORS OF MORTALITY IN ADULT AMBULATORY HEART FAILURE PATIENTS: A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW AND META-ANALYSIS
To view the full text, please login as a subscribed user or purchase a subscription. Click here to view the full text on ScienceDirect. Heart failure (HF) is a large and growing medical problem worldwide. Optimal management of HF patients requires adequate prognostication. Natriuretic peptides are useful biomarkers for monitoring severity of HF, and delineating prognosis.
RESTING HEART RATE AS A PREDICTOR OF MORTALITY IN PATIENTS WITH HEART FAILURE
To view the full text, please login as a subscribed user or purchase a subscription. Click here to view the full text on ScienceDirect. Recently, there has been a growing interest to explore resting heart rate (RHR) as a predictor of morbidity and mortality of patients with heart failure (HF).
Effects of Surface Roughness and Bend Geometry on Mass Transfer in an S-Shaped Back to Back Bend at Reynolds Number of 200,000
Experiments were performed to investigate the local development of roughness and its effect on mass transfer in an S-shaped bend at Reynolds number of 200,000. The tests were performed over four consecutive time periods using a 203-mm-diameter test section with a dissolving gypsum lining to water in a closed flow loop at a Schmidt number of 1200. The surface roughness and the mass transfer over the test periods were measured using X-ray computed tomography (CT) scans of the surface.

Get the science right when paying for nature's services
|
Payments for Ecosystem Services (PES) mechanisms leverage economic and social incentives to shape how people influence natural processes and achieve conservation and sustainability goals. Beneficiaries of nature's goods and services pay owners or stewards of ecosystems that produce those services, with payments contingent on service provision (1, 2). Integrating scientific knowledge and methods into PES is critical (3, 4).
