Male African Elephants Were Once Thought to Be Solitary-New Research Reveals They Have Complex Social Networks
I woke up in the research tower to a soft exhale and then a trickle of water at the waterhole below. The full moon hung low and dim in the west. I squinted at my watch. It was 4 A.M. I wondered which of my elephant study subjects had come to drink at this hour. Elephants are creatures of habit, and they typically don’t show up here at the Mushara waterhole in Namibia’s Etosha National Park until at least 11 A.M. The CCPA’s Influence on Obviousness-Type Double Patenting Jurisprudence
Obviousness-type double patenting (“ODP”) is a judicially-created doctrine[1] intended to prevent the unjustified extension of the right to exclude granted by a patent.[2] See In re Hubbell, 709 F.3d 1140, 1145 (Fed. Cir. 2013). The Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit (“CAFC”) has addressed the applicability of ODP several times in the last decade, but ODP finds its roots in decisions from the CAFC’s predecessor, the Court of Customs and Patent Appeals (“CCPA”).
The CCPA's Lasting Impact On U.S. Patent Law: Part 1
The Court of Customs and Patent Appeals (CCPA), which always sat en banc and was the predecessor to today's Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit (CAFC), developed a rich body of jurisprudence relating to U.S. patent law. Titans of the U.S. patent bar, such as Judge Giles Sutherland Rich, who was a co-author of the 1952 Patent Act, populated the CCPA and rendered those decisions. The CAFC adopted all CCPA holdings as binding precedent in its very first decision, South Corp. v.

"Consisting Of": Claim Language In The Fight Against Climate Change - Intellectual Property - United States

To help counteract the effects of transit, manufacturing, and general pollution, some companies are developing and investing in green, or ecofriendly, technologies. As just a few examples, some companies have begun creating compostable packaging, utilizing machines that pull pollutants out of the air, and even reconsidering the ingredients in their products (to create so-called "greened-down products").
