A Wisconsin Farm Family Shares Their Story of Mental Health and Hope
A fourth-generation Wisconsin farm family is sharing a deeply personal story. It focuses on the pressures of farming, mental health, and having hope. Brian Reisinger says his family’s history of overcoming hardship also comes with an expectation to keep going. But after learning his father struggled with thoughts of harming himself following the loss of their dairy herd, Reisinger realized — the two had been standing side by side — each privately carrying the same fear.
Connecting Wisconsin Farmers with Food Pantries to Help Feed Families in Need
There is something deeply meaningful about food making its way home. A Wisconsin farmer grows it. A food pantry shares it. A family needs it. Thanks to a program called Connecting Farms to Families, those three pieces are coming together in communities across the state. It’s being led by the Hunger Task Force in Milwaukee, and started with a $2.5 million grant through the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP).
