As a child I had to take typing classes with really old machines. It helped me a lot!
How is social media changing news?
It is awakening the world! Abirnedo the eyes of the blind and making shake the corrupt systems. I have seen children of 12 or 13 years old with professional methods of journalism. All this thanks to social media!
Who's your favorite fictional journalist?
Tricia Takanawa, reporter on Family Guy! She´s really professional hahaha.Also I laughed a lot with Tom Jumbo-Grumbo, voiced by Keith Olberman, blue whale anchor on BoJack Horseman
What does it mean to be a journalist?
denounce with your real name, what you know is right, even if it affects you or your people.
What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?
In Mexico we have very funny political campaigns, it's like having many Trumps in different parties. Every day there are hashtags that make you laugh. I do not remember the funniest one.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
I'm a big fan of Wordpress open source. I believe that one day they will recognize their creators as giants of journalism, since they fostered the worldwide awakening of this social tool
What's your favorite social network?
I am passionate about all social networks. In 2009 I graduated from the first generation of specialists in social networks at the Complutense University of Madrid ... But I still defend Facebook as a network that has a lot to offer.
Why did you become a journalist?
Because from an early age I was inspired to fight for a just cause. I found in the blog an opportunity to be read and I learned to debate my ideas, then I became passionate until that passion took hold of me.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
In those days i was working in my personal blog... then i made a news magazine called "La Voz de Mexico"
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
When I was a BBC correspondent I had to report on the war against drug trafficking in Mexico. It was very sad and dangerous, but it strengthened me as a journalist and I remember it with a lot of love
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Do not believe in anything that you hear. Excite, be passionate about journalism. See Superman or spiderman. They were portrayed as superheroes, because they sought the truth, despite the fact that in the morning they did it in a "simple" newspaper
What's your favorite drink?
Whiskey, Chivas with soda. Why? Are you going to invite the drinks?
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Reading, reading and playing bowling.
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
I read between 13 and 15 publishers a day, so I really enjoy the diversity of minds and writings.
