Age norms for DunedinPACE: An epigenetic pace of aging biomarker
Drs. Daniel Belsky, Terrie Moffitt, Avshalom Caspi, David Corcoran, and Karen Sugden are named as inventors on a license issued by Duke University and the University of Otago for the DunedinPACE. The algorithm to calculate DunedinPACE is publicly available on Github, https://github.com/danbelsky/DunedinPACE. Belsky serves on Scientific Advisory Boards of Hundred Health, WNDR HLTH, Hooke Clinic, and X-Prize for Healthspan. No other authors have conflicts of interest to report.
Epigenetic Clock Analysis of Biological Aging in Adults With Documented Childhood Maltreatment
Introduction Childhood maltreatment is associated with increased risk of chronic disease and premature mortality.1 One hypothesized mechanism is accelerated biological aging.
An epigenetic speedometer to measure Pace of Aging: FraminghamPACE
WTM, CPR, DWB, TEM, AC, KS, and DC are inventors of FraminghamPACE, which is licensed by Columbia University and Duke University to TruDiagnostic, patent pending. DWB, TEM, AC, KS, and DC are inventors of DunedinPACE, which is licensed by Duke University and the University of Otago to TruDiagnostic. DWB serves on scientific advisory boards for X-Prize Healthspan, Hooke Clinic, Hundred Health, and WNDR HLTH. No other authors have conflicts of interest to report.
A daily multivitamin slows the ticking of epigenetic clocks - Nature Medicine
Data show that nutrient supplementation can modify epigenetic clock-based measurements of biological age, a major advance for the supplement field; however, whether such interventions can increase healthspan remains an open question.
A National Institute on Aging workshop on the long-term effects of pregnancy on aging - Nature Aging
In November 2023, the Division of Aging Biology of the National Institute on Aging held a workshop to discuss the long-term effects of pregnancy on aging. A synthesis of these discussions and a set of considerations are presented in this Meeting Report.
Pace of Aging analysis of healthspan and lifespan in older adults in the US and UK - Nature Aging
Abstract As societies age, policy makers need tools to understand how demographic aging will affect population health and to develop programs to increase healthspan. The current metrics used for policy do not distinguish differences caused by early-life factors, like prenatal care and nutrition, from those caused by ongoing changes in people’s bodies that are due to aging and that may be modifiable.
Evaluation of a DNA methylation-based measure of chronic inflammation in two generations of adults in metropolitan Cebu, Philippines
The authors have declared no competing interest. Research reported in this publication was funded by the National Institute on Aging of the National Institutes of Health (R01 AG061006R21) I confirm all relevant ethical guidelines have been followed, and any necessary IRB and/or ethics committee approvals have been obtained.
Comparison of Infinium MethylationEPIC v2.0 to v1.0 for human population epigenetics: considerations for addressing EPIC version differences in DNA methylation-based tools
Abstract Background: The recently launched DNA methylation profiling platform, Illumina MethylationEPIC BeadChip Infinium microarray v2.0 (EPICv2), is highly correlated with measurements obtained from its predecessor MethylationEPIC BeadChip Infinium microarray v1.0 (EPICv1).
The CALERIE™ Genomic Data Resource
Abstract Caloric restriction (CR) slows biological aging and prolongs healthy lifespan in model organisms. Findings from CALERIE-2™ – the first ever randomized, controlled trial of long-term CR in healthy, non-obese humans – broadly supports a similar pattern of effects in humans.
A life for a (shorter) life: The reproduction–longevity trade-off | Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences
Aging is inherent to every living organism, and it is associated with increased morbidity and mortality rates, negatively affecting reproductive fitness. But if natural selection favors traits that maximize reproductive rates, why do we age? One possible answer for this evolutionary paradox comes from traditional theories of aging, proposing that high fertility comes at the expense of longevity (1, 2).

Association between infectious exposures in infancy and epigenetic age acceleration in young adulthood in metropolitan Cebu, Philippines
2.1.1 DNA methylation and measures of biological aging Genomic DNA from white blood cells was treated with sodium bisulfite (EZ DNA Methylation kit, Zymo Research), and converted DNA was applied to the Infinium Methylation EPIC array following manufacturer's standard conditions (Illumina Inc., San Diego, CA, USA). Samples were randomized by baseline sampling neighborhood to minimize any batch effects, and quality control was performed to confirm participant sex.
Calorie restriction may slow pace of ageing in healthy adults, study suggests
This effect is similar to that of giving up smoking, the researchers say. But experts warn that it is important to be cautious and not encourage people, particularly older people, not to eat less in order to slow down the ageing process. While a reduced calorie intake appeared to reduce the pace of ageing, this did not translate to an increase in estimated lifespan.
