Seven decades. One extraordinary experiment. The groundbreaking Up documentary series from 7 Up to 70 Up is now streaming on ITVX. A piece of writing that has stayed with me for years is Linda Ellis’ 1996 poem The Dash. It tells the tale of a given eulogy in which the speaker cited the importance of the dash, and thus the span of life, between one’s dates of birth and death. It’s a simple moral on valuing life at the mercy of time, but perhaps that’s why it continues to resonate.

Sense and Sensibility flourishes with vivid visuals and ebullient performances. It will likely do much for diehard Austen fans, and even recent converts to her literature. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rating: 4 out of 5. One can’t be blamed for questioning the necessity of another Sense and Sensibility. It’s one of Jane Austen’s best, most iconic books, even amongst her unparalleled catalogue, but it has also seen several feature films, TV specials and loose reimaginings since its 1811 release.

Director Yeon has delivered a tense and thrilling action horror film. Imaginatively gruesome sequences, a taut atmosphere, and a palpable urgency make Colony, premiering at FrightFest, a gripping, scary modernisation of the zombie subgenre. ⭐⭐⭐ Rating: 3 out of 5. Yeon Sang-Ho made quite the splash a decade ago with his zombie feature Train to Busan.
