Motor competence development of children in Singapore: a cross-sectional and longitudinal study

This study examined the cross-sectional and longitudinal changes in the development of motor competence of young children in Singapore. Children aged 3.0 to 4.5 years were followed up for 18 months. Motor competence was measured four times, separated by six-month intervals. Children were aged between 4.5 and 6.0 years by the end of this study. Significant age-related differences in motor competence were observed, as indicated by improved performance with increasing age in all eight tasks.
