JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – A new law in Mississippi will punish caregivers who fail to properly watch a child, and the child suffers a serious injury. State Sen. Joey Fillingane (R-District 41) said district attorneys asked lawmakers to create a law addressing cases involving severe injuries caused by a lack of supervision. The law could apply to situations where a child is left in a dangerous situation, including walking into traffic, falling into a pool or being trapped in a hot vehicle.
