“Our school doesn’t have to report sexual assault to the police?” That was my reaction when I learned Article 23-B of the state Education Law excludes private schools from the requirement to report sexual assault to law enforcement. Public school students have this protection, but students at private schools, like the all-girls school I attend, do not. That revelation made me feel both vulnerable and outraged.

Campbell Conard Charlotte Moss, named one of the world’s top 20 interior designers by Traditional Home magazine, is a longtime East Hampton homeowner. In addition to running an interior design firm, which has been open since 1985, Ms. Moss has written 10 books (most recently “Charlotte Moss Entertains”), launched furniture and china collections, and serves on the boards of several nonprofit organizations, including the Madoo Conservancy in Sagaponack. Representative Lee Zeldin announced a $100,000 grant last week to the Atlantic Marine Conservation Society, a nonprofit organization of volunteers and biologists dedicated to the conservation of marine life, from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The Atlantic Marine Conservation Society researches sea turtles and marine mammals, in addition to responding to emergencies such as marine life entanglements and "out-of-habitat" conditions and man-made hazards.
